He was predeceased by: his parents, Hosea Caldwell and Katherine Mackey Caldwell; his spouse Willie Mae Fields; and his siblings, Noel Caldwell, Hosea Caldwell, Dillard Caldwell, Margaret Walker, Margie Lacy, Elvira Gates, Eldoris Caldwell, Theldoris Maxey and Mable Caldwell.

He is survived by: his children, Tommy Caldwell, Beverly Sparks and Kathryn Cooper. He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great grandchildren and a host of relatives.
