He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph E. Melancon, Sr. and Roberta E. Keigley Melancon; his sister Martha Ann Hutchins; his grandson Sorrel Fregia (Craig LaFour); and his stepson Dale LeBlanc.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Melancon of Troup; his children, Carin Simmons-Adam (Doyle) of Brenham, Denise Fregia of Harden, Paul Melancon of Tyler, Amy D. Lewis (Adron) of Mansfield, Dawn Coffey (Joe Williamson) of Troup, Hope LaFour of Batson, Rory LeBlanc (Janie) of Dayton and Sherri LeBlanc of Hamilton; and his siblings, Gordon Melancon of Hull, Celie Bloomfield (Joe) of Beaumont, Mac Melancon of Batson and Jeanie Gillard (Bubba) of Liberty. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
