He was predeceased by: his parents, Sotero Luera and Pilar Montelongo Luera; and his brother Dario Luera. He is survived by: his wife Josie Luera of New Gulf; his children, Mike Luera (Jessica) of Bay City, David Luera (Katy) of Jones Creek, Sotero Luera, III (Gina) of Bay City, Melissa Munoz (Joe) of Wharton and Cheryl Hooper (Tim) of Wharton; his siblings, Henry Luera and Mary Helen Rodriguez; and his grandchildren, Michael, Sean, Cameron, Leslie, Meagan, Christofer, Angel, Aaron, Brittnee, Alissa, David, Jr., Ryan, Chase, Joseph, Gabriel, Brea-Ann, Sebastian, Kaitlyn, Cheyenne and Mason. He is also survived by 22 great grandchildren.
