It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Paula Ferrel Alcalar of Wharton, Texas, born in Kendleton, Texas, who passed away on October 21, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesus Ferrel and Ramona Molina Ferrel; her son Yshmal Rodriguez; and her siblings, Francis Merlos, Jessie and Raymond.
She is survived by: her husband Simon Alcalar; her children, Samuel Rodriguez (Mary Helen), Gloria Garza (Darryl), Richard Alcalar, Simon Alcalar, Jr., Jessie Purcell (Larry Purcell), Sylvia Alcalar, John Alcalar (Jeanie), Freddie Alcalar, Louis Marshall and Rosemary Arismendez (Joe); and her siblings, Fay Cruz, Judy Ferrel, Carmen Mendez, Josephine Rodriguez, Trinidad Longoria, Bennie Ferrel, Larry Ferrel, Ramon Ferrel and Manuel Ferrel. She is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 87 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
