It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Leon Pennington Sr. of Wharton, Texas, who passed away on December 23, 2024, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Evelyn Swathwood and Wade Pennington of Marion; his stepfather Bill Baker; and his siblings, Jim Pennington and Patrica Graves.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Catherine of Wharton; his son Joey Pennington (Joey) of Wharton; his grandchild Lindle Krushall (Brandon Jr.) of Clear Lake; his great grandchild Harley Krushall of Clear Lake; and his brother Jerry Pennington (Linda) of Corpus Christi.

Visitation was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 at 9:00 AM at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church (506 S East Ave, Wharton, TX 77488). A rosary was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the same location.
