He was predeceased by: his parents, Gene Cox and Clarabell Gay Cox; and his siblings, Mary Burt, Marla Cox (Tina Willeford), Bobby McVeay and Ronnie Shugart.
He is survived by: his wife Valerie Willeford; his daughters, Jessica Flournoy Kasper and Emily Melton (Justin); his sister Charlotte Kester; his sister-in-law Virginia Shugart; his aunt Pat Herndon; and his grandchildren, Cooper Sherwood, Judson Melton and Kendall Smith. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
