He was predeceased by: his mothers, Elsie Purcell and Daisy Owens (Killam). He is survived by: his wife Ann Owens; his children, Sheryl (Bruce Delp), Lisa (Pam Pease) and Mark Owens; his grandchildren, Vanessa Delp, Lauren Delp, Rachel (Derek Orr), Alyssa (Matt Miller), Carli Welker and Andrew Owens; his great grandchildren, Meryn and Finnley Miller; and his siblings, Gerald Owens, Dot Blalock (Lawton Blalock) and Grace Buckbee. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
