He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Zahirniak and Annie Zahirniak (Cepak); and his siblings, Willie Mae, Ernest, Jody and Daniel.
He is survived by: his wife Mary; his daughter Deborah; his sisters, Mary Hessel and Helen Warner; and his children, Mike Mosier (Wendy), Debbie Timmons (Greg), Rusty Dragoon (Bill), Sam Zahirniak (Nell), Daniel Zahirniak (Annette), Patricia Scheler (Eddie) and Patrick Joe Zahirniak (Julia). He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews.
