Claudia Vela wrote a sympathy message

“Sue was a wonderful person. We were classmates in the doctoral program in UTRGV (2012-2016). It was a joy to have her as my classmate and friend. She was a great school leader and student and I always looked forward to learning from her in the classroom. I looked up to her and she gave me the opportunity to do my internship in Weslaco high school. Just seeing her doing her work was a rich learning experience. My sincere condolences to all her family and friends. Claudia Vela”

Alonzo Barbosa wrote a sympathy message

“To the Peterson family, My family and I wanted to send our sincerest condolences. Mrs. Peterson and I served together at Mary Hoge Academy where I was able to see the true great leader that she was. We recently served our respective Districts as United Way Coordinators and again Mrs. Peterson's compassion and commitment to excellence shined brightly. You will be missed as you leave so much to be remembered & cherished. Your light will continue to shine ever so bright. -Alonzo Barbosa & Fam.”
