Jerry R. Gutshall Obituary
Jerry R. Gutshall, age 83, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022, at McAllen, Texas.
He was born April 2, 1939, at Meade, Kansas, the son of Carol (Hap) and Sadie (Olson) Gutshall. As a young boy he attended school in Meade, graduating from Meade High School in 1957. He later attended Fort Hays State University and the University of Kansas. While in junior high school he began working at the local newspaper office until his graduation. He served in the United States Air Force for four years. After college, he returned to Meade and continued working for the newspaper office. He later moved to Manhattan, Kansas, and began working for a local print shop and later working for Kansas State University in the print shop until his retirement. Upon retirement, he moved to Weslaco, Texas.
He enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Master Gardeners of Texas and the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by a sister Sue (Gutshall) Davis of Omaha, Nebraska; two nephews, Michael and Eric Davis; and a niece Theresa Hurley.
Cremation has taken place with private burial in Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
The family would welcome memorials to the Master Gardeners of Texas or the charity of the donor's choice in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
