It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Monty Merrell of Wells, Texas, born in Childress, Texas, who passed away on June 5, 2024, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Y. B. Merrell and Georgia Ruth Merrell (Jones); his children, Cory and Lisa; his brother Billy Ray; his grandchildren, Shawn and Kyla; and his great grandchild Kasey.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Merrell; his children, Renee Holt of Rio Rancho, NM and Mark; his daughter-in-law Kelly Merrell of McAlister, OK; his brother Joe; his sister-in-law Pat Merrell of Childress, TX; his sisters, Norma Murphy of Amarillo, TX and Sharon; his brother-in-law Butch Nichols of Childress, TX; his sisters, Brenda Wolf of Las Vegas, NV, Barbara Gilley of Childress, TX and Debbie; and his brother-in-law Benny Poe of Childress, TX. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
