He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Phipps and Clarice Phipps (Bolch); his wife Mary Sue Turner; his siblings, Douglas Phipps and Dortha Faye Futch; and his great grandchild Kolby Huckert.

He is survived by: his children, Vicky Huckert (David) of Lamesa, Glen Phipps (Velda) of Wolfforth, Ted Phipps (Barbara) of Lubbock and Ben Phipps (Robbie) of Welch; and his sister Francis Barbini of Houston. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers family suggests memorials to Buckner Children's Home 129 Brentwood Ave., Lubbock, TX 79416.
