With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard Carlton Barnes of Weimar, Texas, born in Damon, Texas, who passed away on December 9, 2023 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Barnes and Elva Barnes; and his wife Shirley Barnes. He is survived by: his girlfriend Kathy Newman of Weimar, TX; his children, Brain Barnes (Brooke) of Alvin, TX and Ginger Newsome (Tommy) of Old Ocean, TX; his sisters, Wanda Jones of Waxahachie, TX and Joyce DeSalme (Dick) of New Braunfels, TX; his stepchildren, Lauren Gartshore (Rick) of Fort Worth, TX, Barry Bond of Chicago, IL., Kevin Knebel (Denise) of Maryland, David Knebel of Houston, TX and Jennifer Sardelich of West Columbia, TX; and his grandchildren, Colby, Camie and Cally Newsome. He is also survived by several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, December 14th 2023 at 10:30 AM at the Damon Cemetery (3801-3827 Commerce St, Damon, TX 77430). A reception will be held on Friday, December 13th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Henneke Funeral Home (1515 Montezuma St, Columbus, TX 78934).
