He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Truex and Donna Truex; and his son Joseph Anthony Truex. He is survived by: his wife Susan 'Sue Truex; his children, Fred M Truex, Greg Truex (Jessica), Michelle Sheldon (Ian) and Amanda Rhoades (Josh); and his sisters, Deborah Secrest and Tami Carmer.
