He was predeceased by: his parents, William W. McCandless and Doris J. McCandless (Toboldt). He is survived by: his wife Ruth; his sister Melinda (Bruce Bergen); his children, Kurt (Katherine McCandless), Kim (Will Hiles) and Karin (Dave Butts); his sister-in-law Janice Power; his grandchildren, Laura McCandless, Kate McCandless, Jacob Wheeler, Ellery Wheeler, Nate Hiles, Nicholas Chuang, Natalie Chuang, Simon Chuang, Erin Butts, Megan Butts and Mackenzie Butts; his nephews, Chris Bergen and Robert Power; his niece Wendy Vaughan; and his great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Beckham Minniweather.
