He was predeceased by: his parents, James Layne and Bennie Jo Layne; and his son James Edward Layne. He is survived by: his wife Susan Layne; his sister Cheryl Layne Lindsay; his children, Stacie (Mark Earwood) of Mukilteo, Jonathan (Catherine Layne) of Weatherford, Tonya (Nolen Thomason) of Mineral Wells and Selina (Cliff Hansen) of Houston, Texas.; and his grandchildren, Stephanie, Mark, Jr., Daniel, Maegan, Samuel, Michael, Terra and Riley. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Jim requested donations be made to the American Heart Association.
