He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton Johnston and Audine Johnston; and his siblings, Pauline Paschal, Mary Nell Taylor, Kenneth Johnston and Monty Johnston.
He is survived by: his wife Melba Detherage Johnston; his children, Roger Johnston (Lynette) and Jennifer Harrell (Bret); his grandchildren, Ben Johnston (Jenna), Katie Privette (Matt), Grace Johnston, Dylan Harrell and Makenna Harrell; his great grandchildren, Jace, Calvin and Benjamin Privette; and his sisters, Nona Poynor, Marcie Lowrance (JB) and Evelyn Parker (Tim). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
