He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Benton Russell and Mary Gilmore Russell; his sisters, Willie Ella Russell and Mary Lee Brown; his daughter Tana Rae Hines; the mother of his children Helen Hufford McCord; and his wives, Glenda Ivy Russell and Melba Martin Russell.
He is survived by: his daughter Sheri Lynn Russell of Dallas; his sisters, Laura Carson (Dee Carson) of Sanger, Texas and Patricia Morris; and his grandchildren, Brandon Hines (Loni) of Enterprise, Alabama, Christopher Hines (Laura) of Burleson, Texas, Preston Russell (Whitney) of Midlothian, Texas and Katlyn Dooley (Nikolaas Ibañez) of Midlothian. He is also survived by four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
