He was predeceased by: his parents, Josephus Shinpaugh and Gertrude Shinpaugh; his son Tony Curtis Hitt; and his siblings, Edward Shinpaugh, Virginia Slayden, Jo Frances Griffin and Eva Nell Mauldin.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean Shinpaugh (Jenkins) of Waxahachie; his sons, Oscar Dwayne Shinpaugh (Wendy) of Waxahachie and Floyd Layne Shinpaugh (Stephanie) of Waxahachie; his grandchildren, Holly B. Shinpaugh, Jonathan L. Shinpaugh (Hannah), Macey Shinpaugh and Maddie Shinpaugh; and his great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Holtin, Charlotte and Liam. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
