He was predeceased by: his parents, Eula Mae Hagar Payne and Coy Payne; his siblings, C. Payne, Coy Nelson Payne, Alyne Rettig and Anna Laura Eavenson; and his grandson David Payne.
He is survived by: his wife Pat Currie; his children, Kathy Herrin (Tom) of Spicewood, Texas, Belinda Newman (Robert) of Keller, Kendra Lopez (Charles) of Keller, Steven Payne (Gale) of Fort Worth and Russell Payne (Mary) of Granbury; his stepchildren, Susan Reinke (Carl) of Mesquite and Jeff Currie of Dallas; and his grandchildren, Kris, Renee Herrin, Amy, Cuatro Kowalski, Jacob, Randi Payne, T. C. Payne, Monica, Justin Monk, Lara, Matthew Yates, Adam, Carli Newman, Aaron, Misty Payne, Davine, Lucas Grainger, Brittany, Matt Massey, Bryana, Phil Collier, Lindsey, John Hunt, Chris and Lindsay Reinke. He is also survived by 26 great-grandchildren.
