He was predeceased by: his mother Ruth Van Tassel; his wife Carolyn Ann Hobelman; and his girlfriend Dorothy McClain. He is survived by: his siblings, Dona Gillispie of Bolivar, Missouri and David Van Tassel of Springfield, Missouri; his children, Terry (Debbie Ohmes) of Billings, Montana, Honey (Patrick Lantrip) of Waxahachie, Texas and Bambi Hobelman of Waxahachie, Texas; his grandchildren, Haley Ihlenfeldt of Waxahachie, Texas, Love AnnaJo, Rose Caroline Lantrip of Waxahachie, Texas, Cole and Rachel Ohmes of Kansas; his great grandchildren, Olivia, Zoey and Levi of Kansas; his niece Amy Bradt of Kansas; and his nephew Troy Gillispie of Nevada.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel (511 W Main St, Waxahachie, TX 75165). A rosary was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 at the Waxahachie City Cemetery (300 S Hawkins St, Waxahachie, TX 75165).
