John Taylor Filgo Obituary
John Taylor Filgo, born on July 3, 1954, in Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, in Waxahachie, Texas. He was 70 years old. John was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Peggy Filgo, brother, Robert Filgo, and son, Jeffrey McLaughlin.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon McLaughlin; his children Melissa Mincher, Joe Filgo, Jami Rice (husband Colin Rice), Jodi McLaughlin; and his cherished grandchildren Jacob Filgo, Kole Mincher, Caitlin Watson, Emma Rice, Logan Rice, Charles Rice, and Abigail Rice. He also leaves behind his sister Susan Filgo, nephew Wylie Cope (wife Rue), and niece Kristie Filgo. Growing up in Lancaster, Texas, John spent his childhood enjoying summers at the family farm.
He developed a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing during those formative years with his grandfather. Later in life, John moved to Wyoming where he met Sharon McLaughlin. Together they built a beautiful blended family.
John had a gift for storytelling that could captivate any audience. His tales were always filled with humor and warmth, leaving those who listened entertained and smiling. He shared his love of the outdoors with his children and grandchildren, passing down treasured traditions of hunting and fishing that will continue to be celebrated by future generations.
John's legacy is one of love for family and an appreciation for life's simple joys. May the memories of his laughter and the stories he told bring comfort to all who knew him.
