“Gary was a helicopter gunship gunner in the 281st Assault Helicopter company in 1967 and was shot down attempting to rescue a Special Forces recon team in the Ashau valley, he spent 3 days evading the enemy before being located and lifted out. Gary was a true hero and my friend. He rarely spoke about his tour in Vietnam but is revered among those who knew him. Rest Gary, you earned it.”
