He was predeceased by: his mother Eugenia Smith Wood; and his brother Oran Smith. He is survived by: his wife Vera Smith; his children, Dwayne Smith, Forrest Smith (Kaye) and Patti McCreless; his grandchildren, Kaleb Smith (Emily), Shelbie Ghiotto (Luca), Klaiten McCreless (Sarah), Makayla Smith, Kendall McCreless (Holly) and Tyler Smith; and his great grandchildren, Addison, Chloe, Elliot, Hudson, Leah, Lucy, Maddison and Ryder.

Instead of floral remembrances, the family suggests that donations can be made to the Waring Fire Department to honor Smitty's memory.
