He was predeceased by: his parents, James Quinton Watson and Sarah Watson (Thompson); his wife Maggie Pearl Watson; his children, Beverly Watson and Orthella Watson Brown; and his siblings, Katy Watson Chapman, Clarise Watson, Lavonn Watson Hoyle and James Watson.

He is survived by: his children, Therman Watson, Jr. (Anitria), Donald Watson and Katy Watson Powell (George); and his siblings, Ava Stokes and Jack Watson.
