He was predeceased by: his parents, Mildred Jr and R. S. Braswell, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Diana; his sister Carolyn Braswell Holman; his children, Lisa Braswell, Robert S. Braswell IV (Tricia) and Gordon Braswell (Angie); his grandchildren, Erich Schwartze (Becky), David Schwartze (Claudia), Robert S. Braswell V, Richelle Braswell, Kristopher Braswell (Stephanie) and Erin Gibbs (Garrett); his sister-in-law Nancy H. Callan; and his nieces and nephews, Hope Campbell, Frances Callan, Bill Holman, Vason Holman and William W. Callan III. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
