He was predeceased by: his parents, Riley "Railroad" Johns and Nellie Johns; his former wife Charlotte Weese; his wife Barbara Kunst; and his siblings, Wilma Harris, Betty Walburg, Robert Johns and James H. Johns.
He is survived by: his children, Kathy Pullig (Sam) of San Antonio, Texas, Richard Johns Jr. (Gina) of Vidor, Kim Dyess of San Antonio, Dr. Roger Johns, Gable Stephenson of San Antonio and Ryan Johns (Julie) of Vidor; his stepchildren, William "Bill" Kunst, Clare Fowler of Corpus Christi, Texas, Robert F. "Bob" Kunst of Beverly Hills, California, Cathy Kennedy (Mike) of Newport News, Virginia and Michael Kunst (Jill) of Orange, Texas; and his sisters, Maxine Phillips of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Wanda Johns of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Loretta Jean Hammett of Columbus, Georgia. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous other extended family.
