Vicenta Cano Obituary
Vicenta Cano, known by many as "Chenta", Mom and affectionately "Grandma" by those intimately acquainted with her, was born on Friday, July 26, 1940 to Felix and Jovita Garcia in Dallas, TX. She passed away, Sunday, July 2, 2023 peacefully at home with loving support of family by her side.
Although she lived in Victoria, El Campo and Houston, she spent the majority of her life in El Campo. She and Buddy (Abaristo, Sr.) married on February 5, 1955 and welcomed 10 lively children together. Through their union, she was blessed many times with many grand, great grand and even great great grandchildren.
On Saturday, October 22, 2011 she dedicated her life to Jehovah God, Our Creator and Heavenly Father at the Rosenberg, TX Assembly Hall.
As a faithful servant of Jehovah she was privileged to worship him with the Braeswood, Sharpstown and El Campo Congregations. She also eye-witnessed the beautiful bond of unity by attending annual and even international conventions. She spent her private time learning more about the Bible and Jehovah as well as sharing the Kingdom messages with others she met.
In her 82 years of life, she worked hard as a devoted homemaker. Many seasons were spent working hard in West Texas chopping cotton. She traveled to other states and even flew to New York. She was awestruck every time she saw a mountain. She just marveled at Jehovah's creation, again and again. She enjoyed traveling to the beach and cooking sausages. At home, she loved sewing, embroidery and spending time with those she loved.
Many in her inner circle have already passed on. So now, just like her mom, father, husband, brother and oldest son, she awaits a resurrection to life on earth.
Her large family past and present include: Felix Garcia (father, d) and family, Jovita Garcia (mother, d) and family, Abaristo Sr. ((Buddy), husband) Reyna Cano and family, Arnulfo (son, d), Janie and family, Richard (son) and Gertie, Albert (son) and Amelia and family, Abaristo, Jr. (son---Chewa) and Anna and family, Carlos (son) and Linda and family, David (son) and Dee and family, Louis (son) and Irma and family, Belinda (daughter) and Ernest Gonzalez and family, Oscar (son) and Mary Kay and family, Cynthia (daughter) and Michael and family, Benjamin Garcia (brother) and family, Antonio Garcia (brother, d) and Dominga and family, Felix, Jr (brother) and Susie Garcia and family, Juanita (sister) and Santos (d) Cano and family, Carmen (sister) and Manuel Tijerina and family, Jovita De La Garza Medina (sister) and family, Elias De La Garza (brother) and Alice and family.
