He was predeceased by: his parents, Juan Orta and Lucia Gonzales Orta; his wife Anita Resendez Orta; and his siblings, Andrea Orta, Fannie Orta, Rita Orta, Pedro Orta, Juan Orta, Gregorio Orta, Luis Orta and Santiago Orta.

He is survived by: his sons, Joe Manuel Orta (Beatrice) of San Antonio and Robert Orta (Norma) of Victoria, Texas.; and his siblings, Mary Calzada and Edward Orta. He is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
