He was predeceased by: his son James Sheffield; his parents, William Allen and Mary Ruth Sheffield; his sisters, Margie Sheffield and Mary McCool; and his cousin William Lawton.
He is survived by: his wife Sheila Sheffield; his children, Robert Allen Sheffield Jr. (Amanda), William Sheffield, Nina Cooper, Ruth Cooper-McClaugherty (Charlie) and Stephanie Burt (Michael); his brother Frank Sheffield (Sarah); and his cousin Wilma Lawton. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
