He was predeceased by: his parents, Halbert Abshier, Sr. and Ruth Henderson. He is survived by: his children, Mary Henderson Abshier, Hobby Benjamin Abshier and Mike Muhlethaler; his grandchildren, Maximillian Muhlethaler and Kamryn Muhlethaler; and his niece Bess Fry.
