He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernhard Samuel "Ben" and Lena Mathilda Markert (Gloyna); his wife Doris; his siblings, Anita Hutto (Gairdy), Ann Davis (Tookie), Grace Leitko (Andrew), Gilbert Markert (Martha), Eugene Markert (LaVerne), Raymond Markert (Bernell) and Weldon Markert; his parents-in-law, Edna and William Nesloney; his sister-in-law Audrey Miller; and his great grandchild Oliver Carr.
He is survived by: his children, Bernie (Lynette Markert), David (Suzanne Markert), Randy (Sandy Markert) and Sherry; his siblings-in-law, Della Markert and Terry Miller; his grandchildren, Brooke, Meagan, Lyndsay, Amber, Lena, William, Celine, Gerald, Allyse, Anita, Vanessa, Morgan and Landon; and his great grandchildren, Colt, Halle, Claira, Dellin, Zoey, Zane, Wade, Jade, Levi, Ruby and Rio.
