He was predeceased by: his wife Martha Brey; his grandson Timothy Paul Brey; his parents, James George Brey and Myrtle Estelle Daniel Brey; and his siblings, Margarette E. Brey, Faye Marie Gassett Pickle, Esther Lois English, John Brey, Cleve Brey and George Brey.

He is survived by: his children, Jim Brey (Lori) of Missouri, Robert Brey (Tammie) of Lindale, Ron Brey (Kriss) of Van, Paula Gray of Arp and Mindy Noonan (Todd) of Dallas; and his sister Betty Lou Colbert. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
