He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Conley Courtney and Bertha Creecy Courtney; his wife Paula of Van Alstyne; his children, Melissa Pool (Dwight "Pudge") of Bells and Steven Courtney (Lisa) of Howe; his siblings, Becky McElvaney (Richard) of San Antonio and James Courtney of Whitewright; and his grandchildren, Kraig Pool (Emily) of Lake Park, Iowa, Lyndsey Turner (Larry) of Bells, Clayton Powell (Leslie) of Vernon, Seth Pool of Bells, Madeline Bono (Kyle) of Howe, Katy Courtney of Howe and Cade Courtney of Howe.
