He was predeceased by: his parents, James Wathen and Anna M. Simons (Kidd); his sons, James Wathen Simons III and Gerry Alan Simons; and his brothers, Jack Simons and Bobby Simons.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Laverne Simons of Uvalde; his grandchildren, Sheila Ann Simons Livanec, James Robert Simons and Sean Michael Simons; and his great grandchildren, Madison Rose Simons White, Braydon Todd Simons Livanec, Weston Rick Livanec, Shelby Lynn Simons, James Asher Simons, Zoe Rene Simons and Lucas Oliver Simons.
