He was predeceased by: his parents, Leona James (Laxton) and Charles Luther James; his wife Nancy Jo Hopkins; his siblings, Charles and Mary; and his half-siblings, JB, Philip, Helen, Mildred, Charlene, Reba, Velma and Doretha.
He is survived by: his sons, Jeffrey Charles James (Michelle) of Uvalde, Russell Paul James (Rebekah) of Uvalde and Joe Bradley James (Valerie) of San Antonio; his sister Betty Jean (James Sullivan) of Hoover; and his grandchildren, Jessica James, Austin James (Sarah), Ethan James (Leigha), Lauren Sudderth (Kale) and Emily James. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
