Shirley Jean Wiatrek Obituary
Shirley Jean Wiatrek, 61, of Live Oak, Texas, passed away December 4, 2022. She was born in Akron, Ohio on March 28, 1961 to Carl and Jean Hall. She was married to Roy Wiatrek for 36 amazing years. Shirley had a successful career in transportation and logistics until she retired in 2020.
She had a passion for arts and crafts that included making seasonal wreaths as gifts for family members and friends. It was a family group project to construct wooden yard art annually with Shirley as the artist and painter. Each year new pieces were added to their collection. Shirley also sewed and quilted personal blankets for her nieces and nephews. Her best worked showed up in the designer Christmas decorations and gift-wrapping packages. She had a special love for pets and supported the local animal shelter and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Jean Hall, and her sister, Linda Cook. She is survived by her husband, Roy Wiatrek and daughter Christine Wiatrek, sister Cindi (husband – Donald), her brothers Carl Jr. (wife – Laura), Charles (wife – Ann), and brother-in-law Jessie Cook, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In laws included are Margie Wiatrek Joffe (husband – Victor), Justin Wiatrek (wife – Joyce), and David Wiatrek (wife – Debbie).
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Live Oak Animal Control Center or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
A visitation for Shirley will be held Monday, December 12, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A prayer service will occur Monday, December 12, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A reception will occur Monday, December 12, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148.
