He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Caleb Smale, Jr. and Edith Jane Harris Smale; his wife Bette Jo Lewis Smale; his brother Harry C. Smale III (Annamae); and his children, William R. Smale Jr., Gregg W. Smale, Ronald L. Smale and Laura J. Smale.
He is survived by: his friend Bill; and his daughter Kimberly S. Arriola (Robert). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends.
