He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Edward and Mary Edna Sims (McElveen); his son Perry Herman Sims; his grandsons, Charles Perry Myers and Jeremiah Sims; and his brothers, Jackson, Charles, Virgil, Milton, Henry, Glenn and Floyd.
He is survived by: his wife Kathryn Sims of Tyler; his children, Kendall Sims (Susie) of Gilmer and Laryn Julian (David) of Tyler; his brother Lance Sims (Mary Beth) of Missouri City; his daughter-in-law Lynne Chichester Sims; and his grandchildren, Carl, Elizabeth, Jessica, Alex, Brenden, Gavin, Stacey, Abigail, Rebecca, Joshua and Christopher. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home (206 W South St, Lindale, TX 75771). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service and have asked that memorial contributions be made to the Mt. Sylvan Baptist Church building fund.
