He was predeceased by: his parents, Aubrey Wheeler and Emma Mumphrey-Wheeler; and his sister Betty "Bet" Wheeler. He is survived by: his daughter Tiffany Hampton-Thompson (Reginald); his grandchildren, De'Jon Thompson (Emily), Da'Vion Thompson, Dayvion Scott of Tyler, TX, Da'Jah Thompson and Deveren Thompson of Tyler, TX; his sisters, Lena Wheeler and Madine Chester (Reco); and his nieces and nephews, Shaquille Wheeler (Monica), Bryan Wheeler, Dewartha Scott Jr., Natosha Attaway (Brent), Kortney Ross (Lindsey) and Lanicka Scott.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Universal Heights Church of Christ (10262 County Rd 272, Tyler, TX 75707).
