He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerry Elmo Blackmon and Mary Margaret McDaniel Reese; and his parents-in-law, Donald and Orbra Mae Bogue. He is survived by: his wife Darla Blackmon of Tyler; his daughters, Allison (Micah Morrow) and Emily (Curtis Head); and his brothers, Ricky (Cynthia Blackmon) and Terry (Sherry Blackmon). He is also survived by many other family members, friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 6th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Hilliard Funeral Home (386 N Maple St, Van, TX 75790). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 6th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Wednesday, November 6th 2024 at the Union Chapel Cemetery.
