She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Bascum Ridley and Jennie Josephine Judy Ridley; her husband Jerry Donald Helmer; her sister Carrie May Ridley Barber; her brother-in-law Marlon Barber; and her grandsons, Luke and Lawrence Smith.

She is survived by: her son Donald Henry Helmer (Sandy); her daughter-in-law Anne-Marie Y. Helmer of Houston; her daughter Melanie Helmer Smith of Tyler; her grandchildren, Hattie MaGee Smith Shelton (Jakob Shelton) of Tyler, Texas, Henry Marsh Smith of Los Angeles, California, Kaia-Marie Helmer of Waco, Texas and Anne Josefine Helmer Sorrells (A. J. Sorrells) of College Station, Texas.; her nieces and nephews, Judy Marlene Barber Matthews (Jim Matthews) of Flint, Randy Craig Barber (Karen Barber) of Glade Park, Charlie, Toni Helmer of Forney, Otis Z. Helmer (Brenda Helmer) of Fort Worth and Debbie Helmer Knorr of Dallas, Texas.; and her great grandchild Baby Shelton.

Viewing will be held on Monday, January 20th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lloyd James Funeral Home (1011 E 1st St, Tyler, TX 75701). A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 20th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 20th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Pines Cemetery (7825 S Broadway Ave, Tyler, TX 75703).
