He was predeceased by: his parents, James Chewning and Cathleen Chewning. He is survived by: his wife Alice; his daughters, Brenda Chewning-Kulick (George), Carol Szarenski (Caroline Sanchez), Donna Volberding (Wes) and Ellen Blankenship; his grandchildren, Kasey, Travis, Morgan Chewning-Kulick, Katrina (Ramiro Bravo), Alexander, Juliana (Zach Dunton), Nicholas, Gabriella Volberding, Cody Crehan (Kevin), CJ (Stefanie), Garrett (Jess), Jordan, Kaylee, Jesse, Lauren, Erin and Noah Blankenship; his great grandchild Harper Leigh Crehan; and his siblings, Laura Emery, Franklin (Shirlene), Joyce Larson, Charles (Gay), Allen, Ralph (Iris) and Gene. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Stewart Family Funeral Home (7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, TX 75703). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 5th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your favorite charity or to Pollard United Methodist Church in Jim's name.
