He is survived by: his wife Reyes Hilda Cortez (Flores) of Tulia; his children, Efrain (Melinda Cortez) of Tulia, Esteban Cortez of Tulia and Erika Cortez of Tulia; his siblings, Jose Cortez of Mexico, Juan Cortez of Mexico and Ofelia Cano (Estefana Zuniga); and his grandchildren, Efrain Cortez Jr., Alma Cortez, Nyeli Cortez and Lilyana Cortez.
