He was predeceased by: his parents, Q. W. Thompson and Marietta Thaxton Thompson; and his siblings, Aubrey, Hugh, Quincy, LaNella Thompson Hay, Gladys Thompson Rawlinson and Fern Thompson Tannenbaum.
He is survived by: his spouse Shirley White Thompson; his children, Lynne Thompson McMurtry (Mike) and Mike Thompson (Jill) of Louisville; and his grandchildren, Quincy McMurtry (Terri) of Troy, Brad McMurtry (Elizabeth) of Troy, Leigh McMurtry Welch (Michael) of Troy, John Thompson (Emily) and Mark Thompson of Louisville.
