He was predeceased by: his parents, Clebert Ellis and Lillian Ellis (Woods); and his siblings, Bill, Claude, Kenneth Ellis, Ramona Jackson and Rosa Mae Modglin.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Ellis of Troy; his children, Melissa Murphy (Arnold) of Killeen, Brad Ellis of Troy, Dave Ellis of Colorado, Cindy Grimsley of California and Sharah Kling of Kentucky; and his siblings, C. F., Jimmy, Benny Ellis, Barbara Biskup of Troy and Dolores Dale of Troy. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
