He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Whitt and Mazie Denson Whitt; his wife Pat Whitt; his son Jim Whitt, Jr.; and his stepson Kelly Welch.
He is survived by: his son Joe Whitt (April) of Shawnee; his stepdaughter Debra Welch of Troup; his stepdaughter-in-law Debbie Welch of Aransas Pass; his brother Bill Whitt of Lindsay; his grandchildren, Kyle Whitt, Brian Whitt, Nicole Bauman, Eric Whitt, Courtney Green, Jonathan Whitt, Hailey Dunn, Casey Whitt, Lauryn Whitt, Isabelle Whitt, Shane McCown, Jr., Dowdy and Lillian Shugart; his nieces, Cindy Shoemaker and Lana; and his nephew Randy Stone. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
