With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Lynn Moyers of Troup, Texas, born in Henderson, Texas, who passed away on June 11, 2023 at the age of 80. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James Lynn Moyers to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, John Moyers and Betty Moyers; his brother John Neal Moyers; his niece Kathy Harkins; and his parents-in-law, Sanford and Macil Hall.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon; his children, Darren Moyers and Melanie (Patrick Ransome); his grandchildren, Chloe (Garrett Breeding), Jordon Coker, Hannah Coker and Hunter Ransome; his great grandchildren, Hayden and Rynleigh Breeding; his sister-in-law Susan Moyers; and his niece Karen Moyers.

“I have many memories from our time at Cumberland Academy together. I was the PE teacher. When I took over the program I was surprised that there had never been a “field day”. We didn’t have a field. Mr. Moyers said that if I wanted to make it happen he would support me if I had a clear plan. He supported me in every plan. For our first “field day” he stood in the middle of Broadway with a stop sign so the children could cross the road to the field the church had given us permission to use.”
