She was predeceased by: her parents, Pearl Blalock Lowery and Leonard Divine Lowery; her former husband George A. Works, Jr.; her husband James C. Simmons; and her siblings, Juanita Lewis (Naomi Knight), L. D. Lowery, Royal and Doyal Lowery.
She is survived by: her stepchildren, Jamie Simmons Whatley, George Works, III, Shelley, Windy Works Gibson, Wayne, Lawrence Works and Wilma; and her sister-in-law Bernita Lowery. She is also survived by Numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
