She was predeceased by: her former husband Billy Charles Bowman; and her parents, Charles Wilburn Matthews and Vera Louise Matthews. She is survived by: her brother Charles W. Matthews, Jr. (Karen); her nieces and nephews, Clay Bowman (Brenda), Cary Bowman (Heather) and Chris Bowman (Clara); her grandchildren, I. Alex Bowman, Matthew Bowman, Connor Bowman, Keller Bowman, John Bowman, Benjamin Bowman, Charles Bowman and Caleigh Bowman; her great grandchildren, Vivian Bowman, Sylvia Bowman and Karson Bowman; and her husband Charley Bowman of Houston's First Baptist Church. She is also survived by friends, met her husband, and raised her children.

In lieu of flowers, it was Marilyn's wish that donations be made to a favorite charity or church of your choice.
